Caught in the Middle of Us vs. Them

In a polarized world of us versus them, what’s a middle-of-the-road kind of person to do? It seems like extreme positions are encouraged and rewarded, whether we’re talking about hot-button issues, social media posts, entertainment, talking heads on the news or candidates in politics.  Kaylyn and Ramsey grapple with this trap.  Are people really so different?  When we are told that people who think differently from ourselves are not only wrong, but also crazy and horrible and need to be defeated, is that really helpful?
